Ah yes, the gifted horse. How else would we explain that not-so-special
horse of no particular known line with no outstanding grace or beauty that
surpasses everyone's expectations in the endurance world? To a degree I have
such a horse. She has given me incredible effort, the kind that she didn't
appear to be capable of. She has shown me the greatest heart - she would
do anything for me. . . .

I applaud Julie's post. Not only do you speak of Lady Luck and the gifted
horse, you also include good old common sense, instinct, intuition - call it
what you will - the bond a rider and horse experience after many miles and
hours together. The heart of the horse that defies it's conformation and
bloodlines. The intangibles you can't train or condition into an animal.
It's all there in your post, Julie. Thanks so much.
