Thanks for the explantion regarding hi revs and lo revs. Like a few other
posters, I've would have a devil of a job getting a rate of 120, 90 seconds
after effort. My old boy is x-track and so he knows how to gallop, and guess
what? That seems to be his favourite gait, but smelly old me only allows it for
half a mile every 20 or so. A 1/2 mile maximum effort gallop up a 500 foot hill
will generally see a maximum rev of 197 and rate after 90 seconds will be about
100.

Stressing him any more than this will mean that he's likely to ruin the one
remaining good leg he has left.
