For me, I worry about my horse related items growing legs and walking
away MORE at horse related events. (E.g. I am more concerned that the
saddle will get stolen out of the back of my truck at the tack store than
at the grocery store). The reason for this is that...that horse related
stuff is more likely to be useful to somebody at a horse related event
than it would be say...at a bridge tournament.

I don't know about the "ill intentions" part (I am willing to give
everybody the benefit of the doubt), but I have had horse related items
grow legs and walk away all the time. At my old barn, my stud chain used
to disappear regularly off of my stall, until I let it be known that I
wasn't going to replace it anymore and would just bring my stud out
without it...the problem went away.
