I have the Roper riding boots and love them. They're soft enough
for running but give good support. They have sneaker type soles so
are good for running on rough trails, and they're nice and roomy.
They're heavier than regular sneakers and might not fit well in narrow
stirrups - but my feet sure feel better after a long ride when
I use them.

Has anyone tried the riding boots that are being advertised now by Roper?
They're the "tennis shoe" type boot called a HorseShoe Crossrider. I like
the look of the Packer (another Roper/Crossrider/Horsehoe). Had an earlier
version of the Horseshoe and *loved* it.

Did Potato Richardson ever plan on finishing the Tevis ride? Or did he know
it would be unlikely for him to be able to finish while he was caretaking
the Nat'l Geographic host? Does he live near the Tevis trails? Was that his
ranch and horses that was photographed in the beginning of the show?
