Dear All:
In following the HR thread, I've tried to absorb as much of this
higher intellectual discussion as my little pea-brain will allow. I've
printed many pages for future reference. Please excuse my ignorant
question, but I have long wanted to know: When a horse is working hard
(around these parts it's usually up steep, mountain trails, even at a
walk) many of my friends stop completely to "let thier horse blow". I
have always felt that it is better to continue at a lesser pace so as to
not just stand still and let all that blood pool. Humans always seem to
"walk it out" after a hard workout. Stopping abruptly would put too much
strain on the heart--yes?
Again, no heart rate monitor here, just takin' time to let yer hoss
blow on a steep Sierra trail...
What's the consensus--better to stand an' blow, or keep walking about?
