In a message dated 96-11-12 11:54:41 EST, you write:

<< "I recently read an article AND received two seperate email
messages regarding scams involving folks receiving messages on either their
phone machines or voicemail or even email. The messages are from
parties unknown to the receiver but request that the receiver return
the call to a number with an 809 area code. This is a number which
serves as the area code for the British Virgin Islands but it also
doubles as an out-of-country pay-per-call number with line charges of
$25./minute. The calback messages generally relate to financial,
legal or family illness matters, the kinds of messages you feel
compelled to respond to out of curiosity.

This was highlighted on the one of the TV magazines last week - 20/20 or
something. As a matter of course, I don't respond to pages I don't recognoze
- I just erase them. I would NEVER return a call from an area code I didn't
have business with. anyone else with info on this racket?
