this is excellent advice. Also, I ask the vet about any readings that seem
low to me (B or below). I always want to know how they are doing on gut
sounds so I always tell the vet if the horse has been drinking or not and
ask how the gut sounds since not drinking and eating early can really give
you some grief later on down the trail.

Definitely view the vet as being on your side. I have found vets to be very
fair - they want you to finish and have a good time.
