As this group as well as the entire equestrian endevour in the US on the
whole tends to reflect the feminine riders I wonder just how many SS
advocates are above middleweight?

i am a h/w - just barely - at 212 with tack. i have been using the SS
for about 2 months now with no back problems for either my mare or me.
i do have one of the early models - 1988 or so. don't know if that makes
a difference.
