Half Chaps

I have been using the half chaps sold by Stateline Tack, Libertyville, Wiese,
etc. for several years now. The first pair was replaced because I bought them
a little too small and eventually gave them to a friend. The second pair is
in good condition and should last for several years. They are allover suede
with velcro closures. When they get muddy I hose them off and hang them up to
air dry. I wouldn't do that with a pair of suede shoes or a nice jacket, but
hey, this is trail stuff! They work great for protecting my legs - and my
tights - from rubs and trail hazards such as briars. They are well-made and
look decent with minimal care. And best of all, they cost a lot less than the
Ariat chaps! Guess one could say that the half chaps ought to match the Ariat
shoes the rider has. Fashion may be part of why people get the riding clothes
they wear. Well, I know I look better in jeans than in tights - but I won't
go riding in jeans for anything!
