hahahhahaah......how well I know the feeling.....that's happened to me on
occasion...

Your heart must've skipped a beat when you saw Hannah take off the
highway...the most frightening thing is to have a hores run out into the
road. When I was trailering horses, I never took a horse out of the trailer
while on the road, unless there was an emergency and then it would scare me
half to death. I always had a fear of a horse getting away from me.

Fun trail ride eh? I had plenty of those....several years ago a group of us
went for a ride in the Freetown State Forest. We'd pack our lunch in saddle
bags and would stop, tether our horses, and eat our lunch. Well this one
fine day, I guess I didn't secure my horse because as we sat at a campsite
to eat our lunch, my former husband calmly told me that "Sheba" is walking
off, I turned towards her, walked slowly so not to spook her, and when she
saw me coming towards her she began to trot off, I ran a little, she'd trot
a little faster, and yupe, you got it, off she went! Well, it's a long
story as to how my husband got her back....something out of a Roy Rogers
movie, Bob jumped onto his horse took off at high speed down the trail and
eventually "rounded up" my mare that was also running full out ..... they
returned nearly 45 minutes later.

I think Chess needs a lot more socializing, but for now take him out with a
quiet horse on the trails --- he needs more time on the trails but not in
groups. I loved trail-riding!
