Linda Flemmer replied to Tish Stoots, rather replied about Tish's request
for insurance leads and mentioned AERC sanctioning. Evidently Tish plans
to have a ride in excess of 5 days and AERC requires rides in excess of
150 miles and 3 days to be presented to the AERC Board for approval
rather than to the Sanctioning Director. This would fall under "Special
Sanctioning" and requires much more information from the Management than
a typical sanctioned ride requires. First, it would have to be over
"historical trail" and have some historical significance. The other
requirements are not extraordinary, but I suspect a ride in excess of 5
days will have a somewhat difficult time getting sanctioning, although I
would be interested in seeing what Tish is planning..having managed a
number of multiday rides, I personally believe the horses that get thru
all 5 days are generally able to continue for more days. The New Mexico
Renegade Ride is 285 miles over 5 days and nearly all the 5 day horses
look as if they could go for many more miles and days, and they act like
it too!

I would suggest that Tish call Bob Walsh at Insurance One in Maryland to
see if his carrier will consider her ride as a good risk.
