I've also done endurance rides of differing lengths mostly 50 mile and 100
mile rides) with and without a pitcrew. The entire strategies, planning, and
execution of the rides varies with the presence of a pitcrew; in general, you
can do the rides as long as you plan what supplies you will need and have the
management take them to the pitstops for you. Pitfalls of being by yourself
include finding your stuff as you arrive at the stops (strongly suggest
bright colorful buckets, bags or whatever so you can find your stuff),
keeping morale up as those around you are scarfing up snickers bars and
gatoraide while you're still searching for your water, not having anyone to
share information about your place in the ride and having to celebrate
(commiserate) your success(failure) by yourself.

Still, riding without a pitcrew has its good points. You learn who your
friends really are (and you'd be amazed how generous other people can be),
you bond more closely with your horse and are more tuned into his response,
and you can be truly proud of your achievements.

So go to rides either way - just go and enjoy!
