This is my first post on ridecamp, so if I screw this up, my apologies. I
was curious about Bonnie Snodgrass comments on the Sports Saddle "front
fork" as I recently bought my 2nd Sports Saddle and found it to be much
narrower and STIFFER than my first saddle. I bought my first SS in 1993
and I loved it. However, I had a 16 in. seat made instead of a 15.5 seat
which truly fits me better. The increase in seat size made the saddle much
longer, which was alright then, but now I ride a different horse with a much
shorter back and so I was forced to sell my saddle and get a new one. When
I ordered the saddle I told my distributor and the people at Horse Works that
I did not want the "front fork " of my saddle to be narrow and stiff like
the new modles but I wanted it to be wider and flexible like the endurance
model I bought in 1993. They all thought I was crazy. They insisted that
they have not changed anything in the manufacturing of the saddle . I
explained that the first model didn't have fleece and this one did and so
on and so on and so on. They told me I was "thinking" it was stiffer
because this one was shorter.....not so. I would have liked to have a
video of the 2 saddles together showing the difference, but I had to send
it off to its' new home before the other came in. I guess this all means
that if you are thnking of buying a Sports Saddle ( which I do Love) don't
ride in or look at any of the older years. Look for the ones with the
fleece backing , so you can compare apples to apples so to speak.
