Hey! I have had several vets tell me they will not do
pre-purcase on a horse that they normally vet, all due to conflict of
interest. I thought that made perfect sense when explained to me. I
have no problems with my vets doing pre-purchase on a horse that I am
selling, because I trust them implicitly, but they have been the ones to
feel that it could be considered a conflict of interest should anything
ever come up. On the other hand, I know personally, of three people who
have been ripped off rather royally by taking the sellers vets word. I
am not saying that all vets are like this, on the contrary, I generally
am very trusting of vets. I just know that it does happen, and if I buy
a horse that is worth enough to do a pre-purchase, I will do all that I
can to ensure that I get a fair, honest deal.
Just another view. And just my own view at that. I speak for noone but
myself.
