We were first encouraged to use the smb's on a mare with a suspensory
injury, HOWEVER our vet did say: "I wish everybody would use them all the
time." This is a vet that vets rides, he has been Rio's vet in the past
until he moved out of the Santa Cruz area.

We've used them continuously for a couple years, since that suspensory
injury, on all the horses, have not had any rub spots or problems with
excess heat build up. A hangup from my horse show days is that I like a
neat looking horse so always keep lower legs well clipped and still no rubs
-- or maybe we don't get the rubs because we DO clip?

One of our easy access from home areas to ride is the Salinas river bed,
lots of sand, I find very little sand in the boots after a ride if they are
put on correctly, which is fairly tight. Perhaps some rubs are from the
boots being on to loose.

Would rather use them and give the horses the protection against bangs etc
and prevent a pulled suspensory than to deal with a pulled one again.
