Hi, Cheryl,
I'm sure no feeding expert, but I'll tell you what has worked for me. I
feed about 1/2 good oat hay, and 1/2 alfalfa-grass mixed hay. I think this
amount of grass to alfalfa is about the right calcium/phorphorus ratio. For
my harder keeping older mare I add 3 pounds of LMF Development Concentrate G
and 1/2 cup corn oil. I like the LMF line, they seem to have put a lot of
research into their formulas. The corn oil lets me add calories without too
much carbos.

Hope this helps.
