Congrats on the purchase. You have purchased my dream trailer!
My choice for towing this trailer would be a 1 ton Dodge dually with a
Cummins Turbo-Diesel.
I would not choose a 4 WD for the following reasons:
1. Diminished towing capacity.
2. The additional $3500 - $4000 + interest over the loan term.
3. More fuel usage.
4. If you really get stuck with that trailer, 4WD won't help.
My suggestions for work-arounds:
1. Carry a cell phone - call for a tow if needed.
$3500 covers 19 yrs of basic service and my insurance pays the
tow.
2. Install a winch on the front of the truck.
