I just lost a horse to colic surgery a month ago. Definitely, send flowers.
It's a wonderful thought. I got a really nice sympathy note from the vet
who did the surgery on my mare. It meant a lot. Amazingly, I have yet to
hear a single word from the owners/trainers of the stable where my mare was
at the time she coliced. At $800+ a month for training and a relationship
that spans over 15 years a phone call might be nice.
Losing a special horse is not unlike losing a special friend. Your friend
will no doubt appreciate your thoughtfulness and it will bring her comfort to
know that you know she grieves.
