GATES INSTALLED IN BARICADES AT "NO-HANDS" BRIDGE

At 7AM, Friday, June 21, 1996 about 15 volunteers cleared the overgrowth of
star-thistle from the closed off "No-Hands" Bridge (bridge was closed March 1,
1996). Shortley thereafter, workers from HIGH SIERRA FABRICATORS, Newcastle, CA
arrived at the site and proceeded to cut openings and intall the 11' wide x 10'
high gates at each end of the bridge. These gates will allow equipment and
material to gain access to the bridge when stabilization and fix is started.

During the installation, NEIL MOORE, structural engineer, installed and
calibrated the TiltMeter that will be used during the opening of the bridge for
the WS100 Run on June 29 and for the Western States Trail Ride ~ the Tevis Cup
100 Miles One Day Ride on July 27.

At 6PM the project was completed and now things are ready for the Run and Ride.

THE BRIDGE WILL BE OPEN FOR BOTH THE RUN AND RIDE. Thanks for all the
cooperation from the various governmental agencies and for the support of over
5,300 persons that signed the petition and wrote letters to the elected
officials...our government really does listen. Keep the petitions coming and
look for notices about the fund raiser to collect the $180,000 needed to
stabilize the bridge.

The 18 month pictorial calendar ($17.75, tax and shipping included) of
"No-Hands" Bridge PLUS the beautiful 24" x 26" full color poster ($25, tax and
shipping included) of the bridge are both now available. Contact WSTF, 701 High
Street, #228-C, Auburn, CA 95603, 916/823-7282 or FAX 916/823-7901 for ordering
and further information. ALL PROCCEDS WILL GO TO THE FUND TO RESTORE NO HANDS
BRIDGE (charitable contribution to a 501 (c)(3) organization is tax deductible).

Stay tuned for more updates.

Thanks,

Larry Suddjian, Vice President & Ride Director
