For me I found the solution to Slypner shoes was to use front patterns with
quarter clips instead of a toe clip. I was using size rear patterns and
and the shoer was having to do a lot of shaping. When I discussed this
with the people at Slypner they suggested size 12 fronts with quarter clips
(until then I didn't even know the front patterns came with quarter clips).

It worked wonderfully. There was almost no shaping. Because of that the
insert sliped right in place and locked down with little effort. Needless
to say the farrier was happy with that. And as a side benefit, the 12
fronts are about a quarter inch longer than the 13 rear and I have more
support for the foot.
