[endurance] No, not again a bad-luck year!

As ride calendars came in in February/March we started planning rides to
keep all of our three horses in action this year with a good progress in
the ride schedule.

Untill now non of the 5 planned rides went like they should. Either not
started with the horse planned, or not the distance planned and/or not
completed.
Yesterday Bechir injured himself on the last 10 meters of the training.
I crossed the little river (as usual) to cool down his legs. He must
have scared for something, paniced and ran off. When we got out of the
river he appeared to have lost a shoe (just got shoed last Wednesday)
but what's worse, stepped on the back of his hoof and was bleeding like
hell.
Called the vet straight away. He says Bechir will most likely be OK by
next week as we plan for a ride on June 8 over 56 Miles, but I think I
better cancel the ride as I have to keep him in stall with a bandage and
a hoof shoe around his foot and won't be able to ride for at least a
week when I see the injury.

Would like to hear anybody's opinion on ability to ride and perhaps
hints on treatment of such injuries.

Hopefully Love over Gold will be able to complete the 64 km (40 Miles)
next weekend in Genk (Belgium) so I will at least get my confidence
back. In situations like these you feel like quitting, you know?!
