For all of you out there who have offered moral support, advice and your own
humerous stories to help Elly & I get through our first endurance competition
(CFW this Sunday), this is for you:

On 5/22 while bathing and clipping Elly, I pointed out to my
trainer/friend/ex-nurse/etc. that Elly's udders were swollen. We had also
noticed in the past several weeks:

1. Elly had a hay belly that just wouldn't go away...
2. Elly was becoming very cuddly and sweet
3. Elly was very protective of a new filly, keeping between her and the
gelding in their corral
4. That darn hay belly...what else could we do???

So, with the discovery of the swollen udders and my revelation that I'd never
seen her in heat, although I brought her home last August, off to the vet we
went. (Novice horse owner--what a dope).

Well, the hay belly isn't! She's due to deliver on June 30, having been bred to
a Reserve Grand National Champ! What a surprise (both for me and her previous
owner)!!

I will still be at CFW, only I'll be riding my friend's QH (quit laughing)!!
The goal will still be the same (to finish), but I don't think Bandy will be in
as good of shape as Elly would have been.

All I can say is its a darn good thing that we finally noticed. Can you imagine
how red my face would be after hauling her 6 hours only to be told at the vet in
that she was pregnant!!!

Anyway, please keep with the stories...I'll need to live vicariously til next
year!
