Hi Karen!

I live in Houston, Texas where it's REALLY hot AND humid, and the night
before the ride, the morning of the ride, and the day of the ride I feed my
horse "porridge." I measure out equal parts of bran, corn (chops), and
crimped oats, add a little sweet feed to flavor -- together with some apple
and carrot pieces -- then pour enough water in the bucket until it's almost
-- but not quite -- soupy. The horses really scarf it up and it gets a lotta
water in 'em. I also feed my horse this way after a ride since he'll
probably be a little dehydrated. In addition, I keep a full hay bag in front
of him at all times with good grass hay in it. I've been doing all this for
years now and my horse has never complained! Happy Trails!
