Acupuncture works on the principle of stimulating the energy flow
through the body. Most folks know that there are nerve pathways
and blood pathways. Similar to these are the energy pathways.
Since they can't be seen or x-rayed or anything, modern (western) medicine
has discounted them till recently. The energy pathways are called
meridians (boy I hope that's spelled correctly). There are several
points on the meridians that can be stimulated to affect different
parts of the body, organs, or areas of injury. When stimulated, the
energy flows better allowing the body to heal itself. The acupuncture
itself is not doing the healing directly.

Some acupuncture points also cause the body to relax. When these points
are stimulated, the body can become very druggy. Or with other points,
the muscles will relax.

What you may be seeing with Major: there was a relax response to
some of the points, there was a pain killing reaction, there was
a message sent to the body to get that energy flowing where it was
needed. The first two responses are short lived. The second
response could be long lived, weeks to months. The healing process
will still take time, but should be in progress now.
