I think this must vary with each horse. It certainly does with my two. My
older mare Gina is a trottin' fool, and has 3 distinct speeds for her trot.
2nd gear seems to be the most efficient one for BOTH of us. Her canter is a
RUN. We are working on slowing it down a bit, but it is going to take a lot
more work.

The other horse Jam, does not. He has a very easy canter that seems much
easier on both of us. I don't have the luxury of a heart rate moniter. I
have to go by sweat and breathing, and the improvements I see at the rides
when someone is there with a stethoscope. So far so good, we are getting
better every time.

I am going to get your book as soon as I can, too. Maybe some one is looking
at the note on my computer desk...the one in BIG LETTERS saying I want this,
and buy it for Mother's Day HINT>>>HINT...
