Linda, you had quite a mountain adventure in your first pair of Carousel
tights! I have been wearing the same two pair of Carousel's for five years
(these are the nylon/lycra ones). The padding is no longer cushy, but I
don't find that a big problem.

I'm also pleased that even the black tights are not overly warm in the heat
as you might expect. In fact, they are especially chilly to wear in the
winter. I bought a pair of Polartecs from State Line this past winter and
practically lived in them! However, the fit is not as great as Carousels,
which come in lengths--the Talls are more than long enough for my 5'10"
frame, and never ride up, even without stirrups or long socks over them
(Steph and Tina, are you listening??).

This spring I started wearing a pair of cotton Carousels. Again, the fit is
terrific, but the cotton tends to bind. And I think they are actually not as
cool as the nylon/lycras.
