[endurance] Making Progress!

Just thought I'd let others in my boat know that there *is* light at the
end of the tunnel!

Up until now Miss Kitty, App with Attitude, has been extremely difficult
to control during group rides. Our one and only 25-mile CTR last fall,
she fought with me for about 22 miles.

This year, we've been practicing stuff like riding at the BACK of the group,
stopping and letting the other horses go ahead (with lots of circling and
jigging), and going in the other direction (again, circling and jigging).

We had a 20-mile pleasure ride last weekend in Groton, MA (hi, Lois!) that
went rather well. Kitty was tough at the start, but once the other horses
were out of sight, she calmed down!!! I never thought I'd live to see the
day! We were riding with someone else most of the time; when my riding
partner took the short route and I took the long one, she did try to play
catch-up again, but I'll take any progress I can get!
