In Becky's Equus picture of her and Rio I notice that she uses
a bit with double reins too... the curb reins are just loosely
knotted around Rio's neck.

Kathy, I am under the impression she used a Tteam bit on Rio.
It looks something like a "Quick" bit, fairly long shanks,
the port is angled in the mouth, it has a roller up in the port,
and is supposed to be balanced in the horses mouh. I believe
you are supposed to use two reins to keep the bit balanced.
I have been sort of interested in this bit, and would appreciate
it if any of you who communicate with Becky can ask her about it.
