Karen,
I am looking into the feed you use, mostly for my own information. Since you
asked about different feeding regimes, I will share with you what we use -
very simply - lots of xlnt quality oat mix hay, a small amount of alfalfa
(more for the gestating or lactating mares and youngsters), sea salt, and
Dynamite formula, appropriate for the individual's use (i.e., the regular
Dynamite is too hot for the backyard beast but ideal for my 21 year old mare
who gives 12 lessons a week and will still do LD this season!). For the mares
with foal and our WORKING horses when they are working, I add an appropriate
level of combined oats and corn. Of course, we "eyeball" our horses almost
daily, and we never have a thin horse and rarely if ever have a fatty to
worry about. Let me know how you like the LMF after some time using it. san
