If you don't wear jeans for riding how do you carry a knife where it is hand
? where do you put the keys for the locked gates? where do you stash a
couple of bucks for a beer??

We have always worn jeans for protection from brush and snags. Between my
wife and I we generally wear out about 8 pairs a year. The legs are not to
bad, the tops are reasonably good but the seats are worn, patched and reworn
. If we used just tights it would break us. Wear out two sets of tights a
year under the jeans as it is.

If you all remember the pictures of the old cowboy in the longjohns think
why he wore them!! Sure didn't need them to keep warm in the summer!! So we
wear them or tights under the jeans and seldom have a chafe problem. Will
admit that once the skin is tough it is a lot easier. You just have to keep
riding.

You all can wear your tights I will stick to my Levis.
