I've alleviated the rubbing from stirrup leathers by running them UNDER the
flap rather than over on my English-style endurance saddle. The flaps have a
slit just below the hangers for this purpose. Also, I use Wintec webbers so
there's no buckle under the thigh, either.

I made this change cautiously because the flaps interfere somewhat with free
movement of the stirrups; however, I've learned to automatically adjust my
leg position as necessary by holding them briefly away from the sides of the
horse. A slight inconvenience in exchange for a great deal of comfort. I've
ridden this way for six years with no problems.
