Saddle options; 45 LINES

Hello,
I think I'm about ready to order a sport saddle and have been looking
at some of the customization options. JeanieSS says that the cheyenne
roll is mostly cosmetic and also helpful in picking up the saddle or
tying jackets behind. Has anyone opted for this and wished they didn't
or vise versa? Also, how about the biothane stirrup straps and camlock
buckles? What are these buckles and are they better in your opinion?

-I have one with the Cheyenne roll. It came that way, used. I
could
take it or leave it. If you want to make or buy a saddle cover
(like sheepskin), it will be a whole lot easier to fit without
the Cheyenne roll. The Snug Packs fit a bit better tool.

-I looked at the biothane stirrup straps and wasn't impressed. but
then I have no problems with the nylon ones, anyway.

I am probably going to order the 14 1/2 inch seat. I'm female 5'5" and
135 pounds. Anyone close to that and happy with this size seat?

-Sounds about right. I weigh 120 to 130, and am very tall. My
14" is comfortable, but if I weighed more, might be a tad snug.
I have found there is nothing worse than riding in one of these
that is too large.

HOw about the 3" cantle as opposed to the standard 2" cantle?

-YES! Mine is the 3" and I love it! Just feels more comfortable,
for some reason.

ONe last thing, the stirrup position. Jeanie suggests moving the
stirrups back 1/2". I've read comments on this list that the stirrups
are generally too far forward so I guess moving them is a good idea. Any
comments?

-YES! Mine are moved back an inch. At first, this took some
getting used to. But it is SO easy to stand the trot. A lot more
balanced. If I ever order another one, I will do this.

Here's one more chance for anybody who ordered one of these sports
saddles and was NOT happy with it to warn me of any problems they had,
I would especially love to hear from those of you who do competitive
trail and use this saddle, but any and all comments, negative or positive
from anybody and everybody would be vastly appreciated. I'm a little
nervouse about trying out such a different saddle but the comments in the
past have been so overwhelmingly positive that I figure everybody
couldn't be wrong.

-Hope you will be happy with it. While I have always thought
they are well made, the most recently made one I have seen was
just gorgeous. Seems to me like the quality gets better and
better.

-ONly problem I have ever heard of was getttng the darn thing in
under 3 months!

Karen
