We just sent off the FIFTH batch of signatures on the petition and now have a
total of 3,285 wih forms still coming in everey day ... keep them coming untill
the bridge is reopened.
Met with a structural engineer for 4 hours today at the Bridge. This effort was
coordinated by Tom Winter, Secretary of the Western States Endurance Run
Foundation. Preliminary drawings are prepared and a "game plan" for a report
that the Bureau can consider is in progress. We need to have a testing lab take
some concrete core samples so we can verify the strength of the concrete in the
foundation that is the topic of concern. These samples will need to be taken
after a raft or boat is secured. If anyone knows of a lab that would like to
"donate" their services for a receipt for contribution to a charitable
foundation, let us know.
The Board of Supervisors of Placer County will be considering a resolution to
request the Bureau rescind the closure order. This meeting is set for 9:30 -
10AM +/- on Tuesday, April 2, 1996 at 175 Fulweiler Avenue in Auburn. Anyone
that can attend should show up as a signal of support.
