[endurance] Walking or resting?

Walk your horse. Early research showed that the horse's heart rate
came down faster at a walk than at a complete rest.

Also, consider what we were taught in physical ed during school,
you just don't stand around after hard exercise, you walk so your
muscles don't cramp up.

I have one training hill that is long and steep - even the mountain
bikers get off and walk. I keep Drake moving at a trot all the
way up the hill. At the top, he gets a 30 second break, then we walk
on. I use the break to get myself out of climb mode and into relax
mode.
