The message below from Corry Clinton is an example of the outpouring of
concern I received from many folks attending and working at the Renegade
Rides at the end of the first day when my horse Buhni coliced.

I'd like to take some space in this forum to thank all those who helped us.
We had a dozen people or more around helping hold her up and do
"belly-lifts" as well as the Vets working on her. It looked pretty grim
there for awhile.

I know almost none of you who were there. If any of you are out there in
cyber-space please accept and pass along my gratitude for your kindness and
teamwork that lead to saving Buhni.

I'd never had anything like that happen at a ride before. What a scary
experience!

I figure Buhni got dehydrated on the two-day trailer ride down to the ride.
We had never taken a trip more than 9 hours before. Although her vet-in
vitals were great and so were her vet-check signs and recoveries. She had
been a little off her feed and water the night before and was not
urinating.

The fluids Dr. Robbie gave her that evening perked her right up. The next
day when we got back to the clinic in El Paso to see her, she looked like
she was ready to go do another 60 miles. But, for safety sake, we let her
rest one more day and then trailered back the two days to Fort Collins.
She did fine the whole way. When I put her out in the pasture Friday, she
bolted out of the corral at her usual full gallop.

Thanks so much for your concern. And, please pass along my gratitude to
all those you know who helped work on her when she was in such distress.

PS..

If there is anyone out there with any advise on long distance trailering,
I'd like to have it. I thought I'd done everything, e-lytes, digestion
enhancers, exercise but I must have missed something. Let me know!

Sincerely,

Linda & Buhni

Hi Linda,

You may not remember me, but I met you on the Renegade Ride.
David (my husband) and I were wondering about your horse and if you got
home OK. Randy told us that the horse looked much better when you got to
El Paso. We were really sorry this happened; you certainly did not
override the horse because you were riding very conservatively.
I hope the horse is OK and we are looking forward to seeing you again.

Corry
