[endurance] Invisible Dog Fencing

We installed the DOGWATCH invisible fencing 2 years ago on our property
(approximately 2000' of wire) for our 5 large dogs. It has worked amazingly
well. The training period was about 2 weeks and involved placing white
plastic flags at the perimeter of the fencing and keeping the dogs leashed
while walking in the yard. When the collar sounded (about 6" away from the
wire and before they got zapped!) we pulled them back toward the interior
and made a big deal of praising them for that action. We now only keep
collars on 3 of the dogs and they all remain inside our yard. Prior to that
they had free run of our 15 acre horse farm plus all the adjacent field but
as new houses kept replacing the fields, we realized we had to do
something. Fencing the yard was an expensive option, but one of the dogs is
a digger/climber/general Houdini so we felt the invisible fence was our
only option. We do keep our dogs in chain link kennels when we are not
home. Granted, it does not keep other animals/people out, but our dogs stay
on our property and we have our property posted "Beware of Dogs". Our
neighbors have invisible fencing also. Our dogs have been tempted by
joggers, horses, cows, other dogs, deer and have not left the property. It is
so nice to let them roam our large yard and not have to keep them
confined/leashed all the time. Owning any animal means that you must be
responsible at all times for their actions/reactions. The invisible fencing
worked for us and I only have glowing praise for this particular system. I
have known other systems which did not deliver results as good as we
experienced (also we had ours installed by a fence co., we didn't do it
ourselves.) One of my dogs is aggressive toward people, therefore she is
muzzled when she is loose. All my dogs are over 60 pounds and they respect
this fence. Hope this was of some help to you.
