Hello- Anglo-Arabs may have all the right genes and all the hybrid vigor one
could hope for but my unsureness about this cross has to do with conformation.
The few (and I stress few) that I have seen look like pieces of a TB and
pieces of an Arab were put on one horse. They were not well conformed horses-
this can happen within a breed too but it was consistent with the AAs I saw.
When breeding horses it's important not to try and make lots of major changes
in one generation- the important thing is to look for individuals who
compliment each other- one is strong where the other is a little weaker-
hoping that the offspring will profit from both the parents' strong points.
What's the opinion of you folks who have seen lots of Anglo-Arabs?
And what sort of conformation of each breed does one look for in breeding an
AA for distance riding?-Amy
