[endurance] Foot problems...

Here we go again. Got the saddle....traded Kevin for the horse...now
Kasey's gone & torn a front shoe off. Looked like a clean sweep--no
jagged edges, nail holes OK. Had farrier out this morning to tack the
shoe back on (less than a week after the reset), trotted him out--3
degrees lame. Tim pulled the nails and reset them exactly in the old
nail holes...trotted out "ouchy" but not as bad.

Couple of possibilities....heel bruise, sole bruise, interior damage when
shoe ripped off. No heat and pulse normal in the leg. He's in soft
going (we call it mud here).

Gameplan: soak in very warm epsom salt solution for 15 minutes tonight
followed by a poultice covered by an Easy boot or a Davis boot for
overnight. Found a new poultice made with epsom salts that I'll mix with
Uptight and run the mixture up around the pastern.

We just arranged for a stall for him (mercifully since we'll need it
now). Run-in situations are OK until you have a problem.

Don't suppose Kevin would take him back? Nah, I like the little guy too
much.

Just sent in $$$$$$$ for some CTR's--never fails. Ohmigawd, does that
mean I'll have to ride Mr T...the speed demon...the
Idon'tdomotorcyclesbicycles horse? Maybe I'd better go buy one of those
eventing vests....
