Saddlebreds can do quite well in endurance. Many have a wonderful big trot
and IMHO are better suited to distance work than most Thoroughbreds are
because they were originally developed as using plantation horses with Morgan,
Arab, as well as some TB and Standardbred blood. I would expect the the
endurance conditioning curve to be a bit longer than for a purebred Arab,
though...
There are several doing quite well that I know of. In particular, 'Another
Rock', ridden by Beth Rogers of Tennessee has been doing a lot of winning
over the last couple of years, including first of 73 starting horses in the
Biltmore 50 last May!
