My experience has been with a Saddlebred crossed with Fox Trotter. She is
very Saddlebredish and wonderfully smooth to ride. She's done very well in
multi-day competition and 100-milers. The high leg action diminished with
shoeing for the sport, and by riding long, slow miles she became more
efficient in her trot.
Some of the good horses in competition these days are Saddlebred/Arab
crosses!
