There are six month health certificate extentions that are good for travel
between FL, GA and AL. They are called equine event permits. You send the
original ceritificate and notarized copies of the coggins to the
appropriate state agency and they send you the extension. These are only
good for travel in those three states, however.

When you are coming into FL using an equine event permit, they really look
it over closly and usually go out and look at you horse(s). This is
particularly true at the ag station on I95 near Jacksonville. There is a
way to avoid that station (get off onto 17 before the border) and that is
what I usually do. There is a Ag station on 17 but you usually have to
wake the guy up.

I do not know if you have to be residents of one of these states to get the
extension. But technically they are not good outside the three states.
