I have no experience with the OF Swain but do have a Dresseur
an old Versatle, an Express Lite, and a Challanger.

Last fall I took out the front shims on my saddles. I had't
ridden much until lately because or ice and cold.

Lo and behold my horses aren't being rubbed even tho their hair
is still long. Try that on your mare. As far as the girth I
tighten it in stages. Ideally you should have it snug to
mount and then tighten it after you mount because the panels
flex with your weight. Also be careful to put the saddle
behind the shoulder blade. Most people put their saddles too
far forward.

Enjoy! Hope this helps.
