In reply to Marisa's question - I think your plan sounds good. One thing I
always do is if I am entering a fifty then two weeks before I ride 50 miles.
I don't do it all at once but divide it up during that week so all my miles
total 50. Then I always give 5-7 days off before the ride. If it is a 100 I
do 100 miles in a week three weeks before the 100, the second week ride
lightly, then off the week before. This system has worked for me and has
given me confidence on the trail when I am wondering if we trained enough.
