Karen & Jim Clanin:
Question: which horse electrolyte brand do you all use and why that one?
We use Select Stress packs. They are convenient enough to use and
don't have additional sugars added. I have some powdered stuff that I
got from the vet (which I think does have sugar) that I use in bran
mashes at vet stops. I am thinking about trying endurolytes but
haven't done so yet. Under stories and items of interest on the home
page there is an e-mail that Lynn Crespo wrote about electrolytes that
you might want to check out.

Question: Do you use the Sports Medicine Boots (or splint boots) and if so
which and why, or why not?
I have front and rear sports medicine boots but I don't use them much
anymore. I used both sets on the first part of Tevis more as
interference boots than anything else. After the first vet check I
put regular splint boots on because I felt the sports medicine boots
would be too hot. The back boots didn't stay up well but that was
the only time I used them. I haven't given them a good test. I did
use the front boots for a while but I don't know if they made any kind
of difference. I would probably use them again for the first part of
a tough ride.
