Hi, I was wondering how many of you people actually get Health Certificates
done on your horses before competing out of state? The question came up
because a new friend has been doing this religiously to go to out of state
rides, but from experience with racehorses in the NOrthern VA area, I know
that race trainers don't bother doing it in order to go to the races over
the border in WV, MD, DE or NJ! So, I figured I would ask. We haven't
actually been lectured to about this in vet school yet, so was wondering.

Technically I guess it's a good idea, but the vet really can't tell you if
the horse is GOING to be sick with just a cursory once over which is normal
for these things! And wouldn't a shot record be of more value? OR a health
record? The vet doesn't ask about whether your horse had ANY diseases
earlier....
Gwen (who really OUGHT to know this!)
