I don't quite agree with all this, Our horses are sometimes not even
completely shed out by JUNE! Last year we had to body clip a filly for
halter and had we done it a month before the show (instead of a week!) she
would have had a beautiful coat by show time. ANyway, we don't see lines on
our horses about a month after clipping no matter when or what we clip. I am
in VA however, so conditions are probalby very different heat wise in AL.

Spring coats here are JUST beginning to come in, most notably on the
broodmares- ever notice they shed more as they are about to foal?
So I guess it's climate controlled. If I were going to ride much further
south I would go ahead and trace clip my horse and use a blanket as needed
at home. It will dry out faster and your horse won't be awalking around
soaked cause his hair won't dry.

Anyway, a few stripson the neck shouldn't make THAT big of a difference
looks-wise unless you plan on showing your horse!
Especially if you go ahead and do it toward the end of March!
Good luck, hope to hear more opinions...
Gwen
