Regarding Saddles:
I have a friend who just got a Desoto custom made for her Arab.
Nice saddle! but we're not sure it fits. This may have more to do
with the fact that UPS left it in the rain for a month than actual
design, but the tree doesn't "settle" onto his back. It kind of
rocks. If anyone knows how this saddle is supposed to fit, please
let me know. Her horse likes it (he'll really pin his ears if he's
uncomfortable) but she hasn't ridden in it since it may have to
be redone due to the rain damage.

I too started with a $250.00 Argentine all purpose, but it didn't quite
fit my horse. I have a theory: "Own a TB, buy a Stubben". So far so
good. The Argentine did fit 2 different QH's quite well.

Marisa: lathering has more to do with your mare being 'out of shape'
than protien. She's loosing salts and electrolytes in her sweat.
Lathering just means that she still needs more LSD and she's been
worked to her limit. You might give her some electrolytes in her
feed when you get back. With proper conditioning, the lathering
will go away. Also, the better a horse gets into shape the faster it
will sweat when anticipating work.

...and I am going to try Gatoraide Lemon Ice. With so
much endorsement from this list, how could a person resit?
