[endurance] Getting publicity

I'm on the committee of our local endurance riding group and we've
been trying to think of ways to get new members interested. Currently
we have about 100 members, most of whom will only do social rides.
(A social ride is less than 25 miles, no vetting, everybody gets a
rosette at the end)

Has anyone got any ideas for gimmicks, I guess, to attract attention,
and general get people interested in doing the rides. ? What is a
poker ride?

Social rides are are main source of income, money from competetive rides all goes
straight to national, and we only charge 5 pounds, which includes the
rosette and refreshments and other sundries such as markers, so we
can't afford to give many prizes. We also don't want to encourage
any competetion, these are social rides after all.

Any and all suggestions welcome

Thanks,

Sue
