g'day diane,

i don't know about other coats, but the "australian drover coats" you
mention can be reproofed with the original proofing agent. it's not cheap
(and i'm sure there are cheaper alternatives without the brand name) but
i've had one small jar for over ten years now and my coat is still going
strong.
