Equus printed a summary of some reasearch done to discover if horses prefered
to be towed facing aft or forward. They used 20 horses (so it was a typically
small sample and a large trailer in which the horses could roam about. They
videoed it. Turned out there was no preference as to direction faced by the
horses.
As to whether the horses know whats good for them.... ?? I suspect it's more
down to driving style and trailer suspension.
